Justice & Rehabilitation

We Go Where
Others Don't.

ETS works inside prisons, through the gate, and into employment — giving people with convictions a real route back into the workforce.

What We Do

01

Inside the Prison

Accredited vocational training delivered inside custody. CPCS, NPORS, CSCS, first aid, mental health awareness, employability skills — giving people real, recognised qualifications before they leave.

CPCS NPORS CSCS First Aid Employability
02

Through the Gate

Training on Release on Temporary Licence (ROTL) and continued support as people transition out of prison — keeping momentum going so employment is achievable from day one of release.

03

Into Employment

Our employment leads work directly with people on release, supporting them into work. Alongside that, we work with employers to open their doors to prison leavers — building the relationships that make real employment possible.

Ready to Work.
Determined to Prove It.

People leaving prison are often the most motivated candidates an employer will ever meet. They've had time to think, time to reflect, and time to decide what they want their life to look like.

When ETS gives them a credible route in, they take it seriously. The evidence is in the retention — our prison-leavers consistently stay in work longer than candidates from other routes.

Three Realities.
One Bespoke Programme.

Every programme we design starts from the same three truths. Ignore any one of them and the training fails. Hold all three together and you get something that actually works — for employers, for learners, and for the communities they're part of.

1
The Employer's Reality
What does the employer actually need? Real vacancies, specific role requirements, timelines, and local labour market context. We start here — always.

2
The Learner's Reality
Who are we working with? Their starting point, confidence, motivation, barriers, and potential. We design every course around real people — not an ideal candidate.

3
The Delivery Reality
Where are we delivering? Available venues, local facilities, community context, and practical logistics. We work with what's there — not what we wish was there.

A Bespoke Course That Gets Results
When we align all three realities, we create training that genuinely connects people to employment — and keeps them there.

What does hiring someone post-release actually mean for your business?

The questions are understandable. Here are honest answers.

Is it a risk?
The honest answer is: no more than any other hire. All our candidates go through the same preparation and vetting as any ETS learner. Their background is disclosed where required. What they bring is motivation, reliability, and genuine gratitude for the opportunity. Our retention data backs that up.
What about disclosure?
We guide candidates through the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and help them understand what they need to disclose and when. We also advise employers on their obligations. There are no surprises.
What if it doesn't work out?
Our employment leads stay engaged after placement and work to find a resolution if things aren't going to plan — whether that's supporting the individual or helping you find a replacement. We don't disappear after placement.
How does this count towards our social value?
Employing someone post-release is one of the highest-value social outcomes in UK procurement frameworks. We provide full TOMs-aligned evidence so it counts in your reporting, bids and Section 106 compliance.

Case Studies

Rail / CSCS HMP The Mount Released 2025

Mark

"For the first time in many years, he no longer feels that his past defines his future."

Mark served a lengthy sentence and left prison convinced his working life was over. He had experience on oil rigs but licensing conditions restricted where he could work post-release. ETS navigated those restrictions, worked their employer network, and secured him a labouring role within weeks — with a confirmed longer-term position lined up as soon as the site opens.

Ryan

"It killed me — but I loved it so much!"

Ryan served in the military before a medical discharge and a subsequent conviction. He came to ETS with real drive but genuine nerves about whether any employer would take a chance on him. We tailored his CV, worked our network, and supported him through the process — carefully, so he wasn't set up to fail. He received multiple job offers and secured an interview for the London Underground. He sent us a video from his first shift on the track.

Prison education that ends in a job, not just a certificate

Whether you're a Prison Employment Lead, Head of Reducing Reoffending, or Head of Education, Skills & Work — you know the gap. Training gets delivered. People get qualifications. Then they leave and the employment outcome disappears.

ETS is designed around what happens after the gate. We work with PELs and education leads to design provision that connects directly to real employers and real jobs — and we stay involved until people are in work.

What ETS Brings to Your Prison

  • Works directly with PELs, Heads of Reducing Reoffending and Education, Skills & Work leads
  • Accredited vocational training aligned to real employer demand
  • Employment leads who stay active post-release
  • Employer engagement to open doors for prison leavers
  • Provision designed around your population and geography
  • MOJ and HMPPS employment outcome metrics reporting
  • Through-the-gate continuity — no handover, no drop-off
